Wisconsin U.S. Senate candidates Russ Feingold and Ron Johnson are calling for transparency after the FBI announced Friday it will re-open its probe into some of Hillary Clinton’s emails as Secretary of State.
Johnson released a statement Friday as chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
The Republican incumbent said the FBI announcement is an important step toward accountability on Clinton’s private email server. Johnson said he hopes the FBI is now transparent with Congress.

Democrat Russ Feingold said it’s extremely important for Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, to be transparent.
“She needs to continue to be open about this,” Feingold said. “Obviously, I don’t know how extensive this is. But I’m all for transparency. “
Feingold said he still expects Clinton to be the next president and argued the race for the White House should not be decided on the basis of emails.
Johnson said Clinton’s use of a private email server was extremely careless.
