Prosecutors Sought New Arrest Warrant After Alleged Shooter Moved Without Notifying Court

The attorney for the Illinois teen charged with fatally shooting two people during a protest in Kenosha in August says his client is in a “safe house” due to threats.

The statement comes after Wisconsin prosecutors asked a judge Wednesday for a new arrest warrant for Kyle Rittenhouse because authorities couldn’t locate him at the address listed in his bond proceedings.

Prosecutors said Rittenhouse violated the terms of his release when he failed to inform them that he had moved. They filed a motion Wednesday asking Judge Bruce Schroeder to issue an arrest warrant and increase Rittenhouse’s bail by $200,000.

Rittenhouse faces two counts of intentional homicide. He was arrested the day after the shootings but went free after he posted $2 million bail. Conservative groups covered that cost.
