“Simply Folk” joined in the celebration of Wisconsin Public Radio’s centennial this past June, with our first ever Simply Folk Shindig.
Almost 800 people filled the Rothschild Pavilion near Wausau to enjoy an evening of great music from two fantastic Wisconsin string bands — Dead Horses and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades!
From the opening notes of Dead Horses’ “In the Morning,” to the closing jam by Horseshoes and Hand Grenades on “Rhiannon,” folks were clapping, dancing, and having a great time. And the spirit of the evening was inspiring. As Adam Gruel of Horseshoes and Hand Grenades put it: “Playing the 100th Birthday party for Wisconsin Public Radio this evening is one of the greatest joys of my life. Thank you to those that value public radio and public television. I find it to be deeply important for a healthy nation, and for a healthy mind. Love to you all.”
