When you talk about musicians rising up from a musical family, Bassekou Kouyate fits the mold. At the age of 12, he started playing the Ngoni-the West African guitar-like stringed instrument. His father played the same instrument and his mother was a praise singer. Today, Kouyaté’s wife, Ami Sacko, performs in his band Ngoni Ba. The song Djadje is dedicated to people who have done great things in their community.
