A prominent participant in women’s music in the 1990s, San Francisco’s Linda Tillery began her singing career in the 1960s with the gender-integrated psychedelic/soul band the Loading Zone-modeled somewhat after Sly and the Family Stone. In 1992, Tillery decided to form a women’s chorus dedicated to enslaved African Americans and their descendants. 7. Oswin Chin Behilia ‘Zikinza’ Songlines #66 Tk 9 7.28
Chin is a sharp-witted songwriter whose compositions often penetrate to the essence of life in the Dutch Antilles. Many of his compositions include Antillean waltzes reminiscent of the bossa novas of Antonio Carlos Jobim, sometimes employing Cuban son as a musical structure. Chin’s repertoire includes danzas, boleros, tumbas and the traditional sehú. This work is a uniquely crafted song about pasta.

The choral ensemble Lionheart will perform in Milwaukee, WI here in the U.S. at St. Joseph Center Chapel (1501 S Layton Blvd), employing 13th-century manuscript works that contains the earliest surviving music of the Italian devotional song tradition. Lionheart combines this very early, chant-like repertoire with later styles that grew out of it, culminating in the harmonies of Renaissance composer Inno-centius Dam-monis, first published in Venice in 1508. From their fourth album, Tradition 2.1, Korrontzi continues their cosmopolitan musical outlook on life featuring Basque sounds blended with the musical characteristics from different cultures and countries.
