It’s Election Day, and the world’s eyes are on Wisconsin.

After aggressive campaigning by Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump in the closely-fought state, Wisconsinites will determine how the state casts its 10 electoral votes.

Voters are also deciding between Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Republican challenger Eric Hovde for a seat that could tip the balance in the U.S. Senate and casting ballots in local races that could shift partisan control of the state Legislature.

Before you head to the polls in Wisconsin, here’s what you need to know.

When are polls open? Where do I go?

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 5, and if you’re in line by 8 p.m. you get to vote.

Click here to find your polling place.

What do I need to vote?

You need to bring an acceptable form of photo ID to the polls, so an election worker can verify your identity. It’s fine if the address on that ID is no longer current.

Is it too late to register to vote?

It’s not too late. Wisconsin offers same-day voter registration, so you have until 8 p.m. on Election Day to register at the polls.

You’ll need to provide proof of your address to register. That document doesn’t need to be a paper copy. You can show the poll worker an electronic copy of your proof of residency, such as using your smartphone to pull up an electronic utility bill or pay stub.

If you’re using your driver’s license as proof of residence, the address on that ID needs to be current.

Can I still return my absentee ballot?

Yes. Absentee ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

You can return that ballot to local clerk’s office. You may also return it your polling place or your absentee ballot central count location, if you’re in a community that participates in central count.

And, in some communities, drop boxes are available for returning absentee ballots.
