Raising Chickens In Holmen High School
September 22, 2014
The week-old chicks have been raised by Holmen High School's FFA members and advisers.
The 150 chicks will remain inside the high school until they outgrow the space. From there, they'll move onto nearby farms.
High school junior Gregory O'Laughlin and senior Chris Jessen have been instrumental in raising the chicks.
Holmen students grow romaine lettuce year-round inside the school's greenhouse.
Some of the school's chickens will eventually move to the farm of Roger King, Holmen High School agricscience instructor and FFA advisor.
