Voting in Wisconsin’s April primary? Today’s the last day to register online

Wednesday is the last day to register online or by mail in time for Wisconsin’s April 2 primary.

But if you miss that deadline, it’s not too late.

You still have through Election Day to register in-person for the spring election, which includes a presidential primary, a host of local offices and two statewide Constitutional amendments, which could change how elections are run in Wisconsin.

How to register online, by mail

Head to My Vote Wisconsin to register online or to get a copy of the voter register form, which can be returned by mail or at a local clerk’s office.

You can also use the site to verify that you’re registered or to update your address.

Mailed-in voter registration materials need to be postmarked by March 13 if you want to participate in the April election.

How to register in-person

You can register at your local clerk’s office through March 29, which is the Friday before Election Day.

Additionally, Wisconsin offers same-day voter registration, which means you can register on Election Day at the polls, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on April 2.

If you’re voting early, you may also register at an in-person absentee voting location.

You’ll need to show proof of residence in order to register.

And Wisconsin law requires that people show a photo ID before voting.
