On April 1, voters will cast ballots in two major races in Wisconsin — state Supreme Court and state superintendent of public instruction.

In the lead up to the election, WPR asked what you wanted candidates to weigh in on as they vie for your votes. For state Supreme Court, recusal and political funding were top of mind. In the race for state superintendent of public instruction, you wanted to hear about voucher schools, mental health and financial responsibility.

We brought those issues directly to the candidates. Our guide allows you to see how they responded to survey questions about those topics and compare their answers.

Each candidate received and responded to the survey. We reviewed the responses for inappropriate language but did not edit beyond that.

The race for state Supreme Court and state superintendent — and a statewide referendum question — appear on everyone’s ballot, but there are local elections across Wisconsin on April 1. To find out what races are on your ballot, visit myvote.wi.gov and type in your address. That will show the races for judgeships, school board and municipal and county positions you will be asked to vote on.
