After taking office, President Donald Trump froze federal grants and programs, including under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act.

The move prompted Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul to join a broad coalition of state attorneys general to challenge efforts to pause nearly $3 trillion in federal funding. Despite a judge’s ruling to block the Trump administration’s effort to pause payments, reports continue to emerge of Wisconsin residents and programs affected by frozen funds.

At the same time, thousands of federal workers are being fired as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to downsize the federal workforce, including federal employees in Wisconsin. The firings have affected the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service and National Park Service across the state.

WPR’s WHYsconsin wants to hear from Wisconsin residents and federal workers. Has your work been affected by cuts to federal funding, or are you a federal government employee whose job was eliminated? What does this mean for you personally? What does it mean for the field you work in and potential effects on public services?
