I graduated from UW-Whitewater with Bachelor of Fine Arts and English Writing degrees. Fortunately for me, my college graduation came during the height of the dot com boom and many tech companies were hiring and providing training and certification for those who had the aptitude and willingness to learn. Always a tinkerer, I love figuring out how things work and thought information technology might be a good career for me to explore. I was scooped up by a local tech company and began working in technical support for new dial-up internet subscribers. The company invested in my technical training and certifications and I went on to work in Network and Systems Administration for them for about 5 years. After a couple more jobs in the private sector and a fairly quick advancement into Systems Engineering, I decided to get into public sector work. I worked for a few of the State of Wisconsin agencies and then found my work-home at UW-Madison. I have been with the Division of Information Technology for nearly 9 years and have had a few different positions. First as a Systems Engineer, then as a Team Lead, and finally as an Associate Director. I currently manage the Office 365 portfolio of services for the UW-Madison Campus. Now more than 20 years into my career in IT, I still love to solve problems, find creative ways to make things work, and provide essential services to the faculty, staff, and students at UW.
