Charles Franklin specializes in statistical methods, elections and public opinion. His statistical work includes the creation of Two-Stage Auxiliary Instrumental Variables (2SAIV), a statistical method for estimating change over time when some variables are not observed at all time points. His articles on partisanship, public opinion and the Supreme Court and U.S. Senate elections have appeared in a number of major journals. His current work focuses on Bayesian models of election campaigns and polling data. He served for eight years as a member of the Board of Overseers of the National Election Study and has been President of the Society for Political Methodology.
