Charley Jacobs is a Professor of Public Law, Judicial Process, and American Politics.His current research examines the role of the Senior Associate Justice on the United States Supreme Court and how the person who occupies that position influences the direction and content of the law. Additionally, Jacobs researches public perceptions of the most suitable method for selecting judges to positions on state courts. Working in coordination with the St. Norbert College Strategic Research Institute (SRI), Jacobs and political science colleagues Wendy Scattergood and Dave Wegge have polled the Wisconsin public on its opinion of state legal institutions and judicial selection. He is also working on a book-length investigation of the role and influence of retired Supreme Court justices on the work of the high court.In addition to his classroom work, Jacobs serves as the academic coach for the St. Norbert mock trial team and is the campus pre-law advisor.
