Dean Klinkenberg is the author of “The Wild Mississippi: A State-by-State Guide to the River’s Natural Wonders.” He has written other Midwest travel guides as well as four mystery novels also set along the Mississippi River. Klinkenberg attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and lives in St. Louis, Missouri.
