Jerry Dennis is a freelance writer, public speaker, and author of “The Living Great Lakes: Searching for the Heart on the Inland Seas,” originally published in 2003. A 20th anniversary edition was released in 2024 by St. Martin’s Griffin. Dennis lives near Traverse City, Michigan, and not far from the shore of Lake Michigan.
