Tim O’Brien is the author of 10 books, including the classic Vietnam War novel The Things They Carried, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 1990, and Going After Cacciato, which won the National Book Award in 1979. O’Brien is a Vietnam veteran and the recipient of a Purple Heart.
