Even though she’s a supporter of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin told reporters Monday that she doesn’t think Sen. Bernie Sanders should drop out of the Democratic primary race.
Baldwin was asked about Sanders in Milwaukee on Monday morning, hours before the senator was slated to appear at a Clinton rally in Washington, D.C.
“I think that a primary is great for the Democratic Party,” said Baldwin. “I am a good friend of Bernie’s, have enjoyed serving with him for many years, and think he is adding some very valuable elements to the campaign.”

Baldwin said that Clinton is nevertheless her top choice in the race, specifically pointing to Clinton’s work on behalf of children, especially those with disabilities.
The Clinton campaign said Baldwin is one of 13 female senators who will join the former secretary of state at the endorsement event and fundraiser in Washington.
