Democratic candidate for governor Mary Burke met with a top national official of Planned Parenthood in Milwaukee Wednesday.
Burke had a roundtable discussion at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. The fund is the political arm of the Planned Parenthood Federation.
Burke said it’s a shame that Gov. Scott Walker and Republican lawmakers made major state budget cuts for Planned Parenthood health centers.

Planned Parenthood said the state money it received was never used to provide abortion services.
Burke said that women throughout the state need access to health care and to be able to make their own choices.
Walker’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment. Walker is taking part in a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday at a Milwaukee center that helps domestic violence victims.
