U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson said he’ll continue to support Donald Trump even as GOP senators in other states rescind their endorsements.
Republican U.S. Sens. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, John McCain of Arizona and Rob Portman of Ohio all said they won’t support Trump after a recording surfaced showing Trump bragging about groping women. All three are up for reelection.
As of Monday, Johnson wasn’t breaking ranks, and said he still expects to vote for his party’s presidential nominee.

“That would be my intention currently,” Johnson said. “I don’t know what other revelations. Right now, we’re talking about despicable words that are indefensible, versus the unbelievably bad actions of Secretary (Hillary) Clinton.”
Johnson said, as head of the State Department, the Democratic nominee made errors with her email account and failed to protect the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya.
Speaking to reporters Monday, Johnson’s opponent, Democrat Russ Feingold, said, “everybody knows that Donald Trump really shouldn’t be President.
“So the only responsible thing to do is what a number of other Republican senators who are even running for re-election have done,” Feingold said. “They’ve had the courage to say, ‘Look, this can’t be.’”
Feingold criticized Johnson’s judgment for his continued support of Trump.
“If he can’t see the difference between whatever mistakes Hillary Clinton has made and the total lack of qualification of Donald Trump, he should not be a United States senator,” Feingold asserted.
According to the most recent statewide poll, Feingold is continuing to maintain his lead over Johnson.
