Milwaukee will be among the U.S. cities on Saturday observing the anniversary of the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
Leaders of the Milwaukee rally include relatives of Dontre Hamilton, another African American man who died at the hands of police last year. Dontre’s brother Nate Hamilton said police officers’ use of guns on unarmed suspects was “too much force” in both the Ferguson and Milwaukee cases. He questions the justification of the police officers’ actions and demands more in-depth investigations.
“Because we think it’s important that police officers are held accountable when misconducts lead to death,” he said. “And it’s not shown that around our nation that’s happening.”

The Hamilton family says they will pressure the U.S. Justice Department to speed up its investigation of the Dontre Hamilton case. The federal department promised last December that it would begin the review.
