State Rep. John Nygren, R-Marinette, said his family supports the idea of him running for Congress, but he’s just not sure he wants to.
Speaking at a Madison forum hosted by the Wisconsin Counties Association on Tuesday, Nygren said one of the factors that he’s weighing is whether he wants to leave his current job as the co-chair of the Legislature’s budget committee. He said he likes working in state government because Republicans have been able to get a lot done.
“You’d like to be part of something that can do that on the federal level. Just not sure we can take what we did here and replicate it. It’s a much bigger challenge at the federal level,” he said

Nygren is among several people mulling a run for the seat that’s currently held by U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble, who announced over the weekend that he won’t seek another term.
