The latest Marquette University Law School poll shows former Democratic U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold holds a 54-to-38 percent lead over Republican incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson in a hypothetical rematch of their 2010 contest.
Marquette Pollster Charles Franklin said Feingold was generally looked upon more favorably by poll respondents.
“Former senator Feingold still has a strongly net positive rating, whereas Sen. Johnson is only slightly net positive — just by a couple of points. Senator Feingold also remains better-known in the state,” said Franklin.

Feingold hasn’t confirmed he’s running for senate. Franklin also noted that any campaign could re-shape the public’s views of the candidates.
About 800 registered voters were interviewed last week over telephone for the survey. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
