Puppies That Survived Oklahoma Tornadoes Come To Wisconsin

A batch of puppies from Moore, Oklahoma is now in Wisconsin looking for new homes.

Twenty-five puppies, mostly mixed breeds and under the age of three months, lived through this week’s massive tornado just outside of Oklahoma City. Then they made it through a 16-hour car ride to come to the Green Bay Area Humane Society.

The puppies came to Green Bay to make room for pets who may have gone missing in the storm and whose parents are looking for them. Two shelters in Texas also accepted the pets.

Karen DeBaker is the society’s director of development.

“Shelters who have a high euthanasia rate and high overpopulation of animals in their area will work with shelters who have a very high live-release rate and less supply of puppies with a higher demand. So we’re very fortunate here in the Green Bay area that we actually have a very low euthanasia rate and so we’re able to help some of these other shelters who may be euthanizing animals for space.”

DeBaker says the puppies are getting medical care and may be available for adoption in a few days.
