Donald Trump continued his presidential primary campaign swing through Wisconsin Wednesday, making stops in De Pere, Green Bay and Appleton.

He continued taking swings at Gov. Scott Walker, who has endorsed Trump’s rival Ted Cruz. Trump also caused a stir in the national media with comments about abortion.

The Republican businessman started the day at St. Norbert College in De Pere. It was mostly a subdued speech, but he reserved some barbs for Cruz, Walker and Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

“I wouldn’t do this except that (Walker) endorsed this guy Cruz,” Trump said. “And Cruz would be a terrible president.”

Trump said Walker came to his office last year to thank him for a campaign donation that the GOP frontrunner claims was between $50,000 and $100,000.

“I gave him a lot. I don’t know what it was, in that vicinity. And (he) came up to my office and gave me a plaque. We’re trying to find it,” said Trump. “It’s at the bottom of a pile of plaques.”

Trump went on to criticize Walker for Wisconsin’s budget deficit, debt, and other economic problems. Some experts say his figures are misleading.

Later in the day, during a taping for a televised town hall, Trump said women who get abortions should receive “some form of punishment” if abortion is banned, without indicating specifically what the punishment should be.

The comments drew criticism from both abortion rights supporters and opponents, and Trump later backtracked, releasing multiple statements clarifying his stance on abortion.
