Gov. Scott Walker’s supporters may want four more years, but Walker won’t commit to serving out his term if reelected.
A day after Walker officially declared his candidacy for a second term, Walker was asked whether he would serve out the full four years in office. Walker declined to answer.
“What I’m going to stay focused on and committed to is telling the people of this state what I plan on doing in this next term,” Walker said. “I want to be governor, and that’s the only thing I’m focused on right now.”

Walker is widely speculated to be laying the groundwork for a 2016 presidential bid, and if he follows through, that could cut short his term as Governor.
Asked whether Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke would serve a full four years, spokesman Joe Zepecki gave an unequivocal “yes.” Zepecki says Burke believes that “when you ask voters for a commitment from them, you should keep your commitment to them in return.”
