Walker: ‘I’m Not Going To Be In The Cabinet’

Gov. Scott Walker said again Monday that he does not want a position in President Donald Trump’s cabinet.

Walker has said consistently he has no interest in joining the cabinet, a stance he reiterated during a stop Monday in Green Bay.

“Tommy Thompson told me his worst day as governor was still better than his best day in the cabinet,” Walker said, recalling advice from the former Wisconsin governor and George W. Bush cabinet secretary. “So I’m not going to be in the cabinet. I’m not running for U.S. Senate. If I’m running for anything in 2018 going forward, I’ll plan on running for reelection going forward, but I’ll let you know that after the budget comes out.”

Walker’s comments came shortly before Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Madison, said he’d heard rumors Walker could be named Labor Secretary if Trump nominee Andrew Puzder is not confirmed. Asked about Pocan’s comments, Walker’s campaign referred reporters to the governor’s previous remarks.
