Gov. Scott Walker says the public should know more about Syrian refugees who are already in Wisconsin or who may be headed to the state.
Walker said the U.S. Government has sent him a letter and given him a passcode to learn certain information about those refugees, including where they’re from, their age range and their gender.
“To me, that’s information that should be available to the public as a whole,” Walker said. “None of that is personally identifiable information so there’s not any threat to anyone’s civil liberties.”

Walker was one of dozens of mostly Republican governors who publicly opposed accepting Syrian refugees following deadly terrorist attacks in Paris last month. Walker has faced criticism on the issue from refugee advocates in Wisconsin, including from religious groups who assist in the resettlement process.
