Projected Water Needs Of Wisconsin's Future Foxconn Plant
Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn recently announced that the location for their proposed electronics manufacturing plant will be in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. The $10 billion LCD screen manufacturing facility itself will need to be built, and in addition, it will need to be able to count on sufficient infrastructure from the surrounding municipalities.
One aspect is the need to transport very large quantities of water to the plant, and to be able to treat wastewater before it is discharged back into the environment. We talk to a reporter from WisContext who’s been looking into the issue.

President Trump Declares Opioid Crisis A Public Health Emergency
President Trump declared a national public health emergency today in response to the nationwide opioid crisis. To put the announcement today in perspective, more than 64,000 Americans died in 2016 from an opioid-related overdose, according to the Centers for Disease Control. And it’s estimated that more than two million Americans are addicted to either prescription opioids or illegal drugs, such as heroin. We speak with a LaCrosse doctor who has been working to combat the opioid epidemic and find out what still needs to be accomplished.
