Wisconsin Muslims Reject Islamic State Group Violence, Says Community Leader

Executive Director Emeritus Of Islamic Society Of Milwaukee Speaks At Rotary Club Meeting

A Wisconsin Muslim leader says the state’s Muslim community rejects the violence committed by some members of the Islamic State group.

Muhammad Isa Sadlon is executive director emeritus of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee. In answer to a question following a speech at the Milwaukee Rotary Club, Sadlon said it isn’t true that Muslims in the U.S. have failed to condemn Islamic State group terrorism.

“The few national organizations we have, there have been many, many statements by all of them here in the United States, all over the world condemning it. Here in Milwaukee, the local Islamic Society of Milwaukee has condemned these things. But with all the media that’s out there, you can do a lot of condemnation, but nobody pays much attention,” he said.

Sadlon also explained many Muslim religious and cultural practices to the Rotarians. He estimates there are now more than 20,000 Muslims in the Milwaukee area, and maybe 25,000 statewide.
