Dr. Sloper decides to take Catherine on a tour of Europe in the hopes she will forget about Morris. To Catherine’s surprise Morris approves of the idea. The six month tour is extended to a year. In their absence, Morris makes himself at home in Dr. Sloper’s house and treats it as his own.
