When we turn on the faucets in our homes and businesses, we expect clean water to come out. For most people in Wisconsin, that’s the case. But 1 in 10 rural wells in the state still have nitrate levels that are dangerously high. “Route 51” host Shereen Siewert welcomes State Senator Patrick Testin, of Stevens Point, and State Rep. Scott Krug, of Nekoosa, to discuss their efforts to tackle this public health risk.
Both legislators are sponsors of The Clean Water Health and Wellness Act. The bill would establish a pilot program to help rural well owners to test their water, then work with state officials on remediation efforts that includes potential grant money.
