The history of running, or jogging as it was originally called, features a lot of white, male figures and unfortunately, while more women have taken up the sport, the community is still overwhelming represented by white people. We talk to a historian and runner about the history of the sport, the complexity of ‘running while black’ and the conversations that Ahmaud Arbery’s death has sparked.
