Conductor Kenneth Woods

Conductor Kenneth Woods joins Norman in the studio to discuss selections from his latest CD recordings and the details of his conducting style. Woods will be conducting the University of Wisconsin Orchestra in a concert at Mills Music Hall on Saturday at 8 p.m. The concert features Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D Major, Philip Sawyers’ overture Gail of Life, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5.

Woods is the music director of the English Symphony Orchestra, based out of Stratford-upon-Avon in England. Woods has made several CDs with the Stratford based orchestra, several of which are featured on this show. Norman and Woods discuss the pieces and how Woods approaches the different styles of music that the English Symphony Orchestra play.
