Norman talks to British violinist Daniel Hope who will be performing with the Madison Symphony Orchestra at the Overture Center as part of the “Composers in Exile” events starting Friday, March 6th, 2015. Featured will be works by Franz Waxman, Miklós Rózsa, and Erich Wolfgang Korngold.
Mr. Hope was born in South Africa and raised and educated in England where he earned degrees at the Royal Academy of Music. He’s just released a Deutsche Grammophon recording Escape to Paradise which features composers like Korngold, Rózsa, Waxman and Hanns Eisler who fled fascist persecution by relocating to Los Angeles where they penned some of the 20th century’s most iconic film scores.
