Joseph Mechavich

Norman is joined in the studio by Joseph Mechavich who will be conducting the double-bill of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci with the Madison Opera on November 2nd and November 4th, 2018 in Overture Hall. Mr. Mechavich is a native of Long Lake, Minnesota and studied at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and the Yale University School of Music. In 2010, he was named Principal Conductor of Kentucky Opera.

Mr Mechavich has conducted extensively in the U.S. as well as productions of Porgy and Bess for Deutsche Oper Berlin, Nixon in China for Auckland Philharmonia/New Zealand Opera, Il barbiere di Siviglia for The Washington National Opera, and Madama Butterfly for New York City Opera.
