Norman interviews two-time winner of the Final Forte, violinist Julian Rhee. He’ll be performing with the Madison Symphony Orchestra for the Concert on the Green fundraiser on Monday, June 19th and then at the Rural Musicians Forum at Taliesin’s Hillside Theater in Spring Green, WI on Monday, June 26. In our studio, he performs Eugène Ysaÿe’s Violin Sonata No. 3 “Ballade”. Then with piano accompanist Satoko Hayami, he performs the finale from Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35.
In May 2018, The Kairos String Quartet with Julian Rhee won the Gold Medal at the 45th Annual Fischoff National Chamber Competition in Notre Dame, Indiana. They were also a First Prize winner at the 2018 M-Prize International Chamber Competition in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
