Three ensembles from the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras perform for us during The Midday. Norman talks with Madison Symphony cellist Karl Lavine who helps mentor members of the WYSO ensembles and orchestras who range from 13 to 18 years of age. Some of the WYSO ensembles and orchestras will be performing at the Bolz Family Spring Concerts on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Mills Concert Hall on the UW-Madison campus. Here are the pieces and performers played in our studios:
- Allegro from Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G minor with pianist Sophia Mussachio, violinist Maynie Bradley, violist Julia Tibbets and cellist Emily Schmidt.
- Allegro con brio from Beethoven’s Piano Trio in B-flat major with clarinetist Nikhil Trivedi, cellist Spencer Koscik and pianist Charlie Collar.
- Un poco Andante/Allegro molto from Grieg’s String Quartet in G minor with violinist Mae Leigh Patchin, violinist David Cao, violist Luke Valmadrid and cellist Luise von Below.
