Prison reform is emerging as in issue in the race for Wisconsin governor. Many of the democratic candidates running have floated various ideas to cut the state’s prison population, from overturning Wisconsin’s truth-in-sentencing law to releasing some inmates early. Meanwhile, Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel said this week that many of the proposals were “irresponsible.” This hour, we take a closer look at the politics and complexities of prison reform in Wisconsin.
