When Wisconsinites head to the polls on April 3, one question on the ballot will ask if the office of the state treasurer should be eliminated from the state’s constitution. This referendum comes after a bill on this passed both houses of the legislature in two consecutive sessions. Our guest political scientist walks us through the history of the office and how its duties have diminished over time.
