With Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) closing both Sacred Heart (Eau Claire) and St. Joseph’s (Chippewa Falls) hospitals and Prevea health centers in Western Wisconsin also closing, business and healthcare leaders are scrambling to fill the gaps. Today on “Newsmakers,” David Minor, President and CEO of the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, talks with WPR’s Ezra Wall about the work of a task force focusing on providing medical care to many thousands of patients and jobs for some 1,400 affected employees.
Then, OakLeaf Medical Network CEO Penny Osmon Bahr provides details on how her association of independent healthcare providers is in high gear trying to accommodate the additional demand.
We invited HSHS to additional context for these discussions but did not hear back from them. We will update this space with any comments they supply.
