The nation’s amateur radio operators gather on June 27-28 for their annual Field Day – an occasion to test their skills and demonstrate their preparedness to assist with severe weather and other community emergencies.
In this repeat-broadcast of a show first aired in 2014, Greg Miller and Dan Abts, with the Riverland Amateur Radio Club, and La Crosse National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Shea, introduce us to amateur radio, explain Field Day, and discuss the community-service role local “ham operators” play in our region.
We also talk with organizers about [Art]ifact, a program that puts a new artistic spin on 15 artifacts from the La Crosse area’s past.
