American musician, “Ry” Cooder, known for his slide guitar work helped bring attention to an important genre of music hailing from Cuba. In doing so, he introduced the world to the Buena Vista Social Club, a collective of veteran Cuban musicians whose signature style rooted in son, set the stage for one of the most celebrated albums in recent times.
