This week, Route 51 kicks off our Summer Music Series with a live, in-studio appearance of critically acclaimed indie rock group Communist Daughter. The Minneapolis based band will perform selections from their breakthrough CD, “Soundtrack to the End,” including the hit single Not The Kid. Guests include group leader John Solomon and other band members, talking about their unique sound, described by one reviewer as “steeped in ’60s-era Beach Boy harmonies and expansive, sunny choruses… contrasted with lyrics about loss, cynicism, and struggle.” Communist Daughter performed at last year’s Why Not Wausau? Festival, and will appear in Wausau again later this month. Bass player Adam Switlick is a Wausau native. The group will perform acoustic versions of their songs live in our Wisconsin Public Radio studios during this special Route 51 program.
