Homelessness is a national problem, one that isn’t relegated only to big cities. Regionally, our elected officials, advocates for the homeless and service providers are working to come up with places for homeless people to live that won’t leave them vulnerable to the weather, crime and the many indignities of life on the street.
Shereen Siewert welcomes Wausau Police Chief Ben Bliven, Catholic Charities Beyond Shelter Coordinator Dan Mills and Wisconsin Coalition Against Homelessness Director Joe Volk to discuss the ongoing issue of homelessness in our area and potential solutions to ensure no one is left out in the cold. We’ll also discuss the city of Wausau’s recent efforts to keep homeless residents from sleeping and congregating in downtown parking ramps, which prompted a renewed call to action to address this issue.
