This Thursday, singer songwriter John McCutcheon makes his first appearance on Route 51, for an hour of conversation and live music. McCutcheon brings his Winter Solstice tour to the Rothschild Pavilion that evening, recreating his classic 1984 holiday album with a world-class ensemble of acoustic musicians, in a benefit for The Neighbor’s Place food pantry.
We’ll talk to McCutcheon about his central Wisconsin roots and his new CD, 22 Days, inspired by Vedran Smailovic, the “Cellist of Sarajevo,” whose vigil in 1992 brought worldwide attention to the tragedy of the war in the Balkans. McCutcheon will take phone calls from our listeners, and perform live in our WPR studios in Wausau.
