This Thursday, March 12th at 10 am, Route 51 focuses on Medieval to Metal, The Art and Evolution of the Guitar, a new exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau.
Host Glen Moberg will moderate a discussion with Kathy Kelsey Foley, Woodson Museum Director; HP Newquist, Executive Director of The National Guitar Museum, and creator of the exhibit; and John Currier, a luthier and singer-songwriter from Stevens Point who has conducted guitar building workshops for the exhibit, and who will perform live in our Wisconsin Public Radio studios. The program will also feature an interview with blues guitarist Bobby Messano, who will appear at the Woodson Museum Thursday night.
The Art and Evolution of the Guitar features 40 iconic instruments, from medieval ouds to early 20th century resonators and dobros, to modern electrics. The Woodson Museum is the first art museum in the world to host the traveling exhibit.
