This Thursday, March 20th, Route 51 looks at the “access to opportunity” Title IX brought to women in sports as we mark the 40th anniversary of the gender equity law. We’ll talk about the groundbreaking law with Pat McKinzie-Lechault, one of the first Women’s Professional Basketball League draftees and the author of Home Sweet Hardwood: A Title IX Trailblazer Breaks Barriers Through Basketball; and Nancy LoPatin-Lummis, UW-Stevens Point Professor of History and the director of the school’s lecture series on Title IX, which brings McKinzie-Lechault to the campus.
