On February 1 at 10 am, Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 looks at the results of two reports detailing the greatest problems and the greatest opportunities facing the people of central Wisconsin. The biannual LIFE Reports released by the United Ways of Marathon County and Portage County show problem areas that include mental illness and bullying in the region’s K – 12 schools, an opioid addiction crisis, lack of rural broadband access, and people who are working but not making a living wage. Host Glen Moberg will moderate a discussion with Jeff Sargent, executive director of the United Way of Marathon County; Mae Nachman, Director of Community Impact for the United Way of Portage County; and Noreen Salzman, a mental health therapist with the Center for Well Being in Wausau.
