October 12 at 10 a.m., Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 revisits Toward One Wausau, an ambitious community project co-sponsored by Wisconsin Public Radio, the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) and the Wausau Daily Herald, aimed at building community relationships and addressing ethnic and cultural diversity in central Wisconsin. The project involved a series of community dialogues over the past year, which will culminate in a celebration October 20, to announce key takeaways and discuss action steps going forward. Glen Moberg will moderate a discussion with Eric Giordano, Executive Director of WIPPS; Mark Treinen, News Director of the Wausau Daily Herald; Tony Gonzalez, executive director of EAG Interpreters; Maysee Yang Herr, Assistant Professor of Education at UW-Stevens Point; Christine Munson, Advising, Diversity and Success Specialist at North Central Technical College; and Chris Norfleet, founder of People for the Power of Love. The program will also feature comments on diversity by Wausau Mayor Bob Mielke, Wisconsin Rapids Mayor Zach Vruwink and Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza. Route 51’s initial program on Toward One Wausau was broadcast on January 12.
