He was a singing, banjo-playing force of nature, who made enormous contributions in areas of social justice, the environment, peace, racial equity and more. And he did it through music. Pete Seeger passed away in late january, and he would have been 95 on May 3, 2014. We honor him on Simply Folk this week with an encore broadcast of the tribute program originally aired in February. There are excerpts from a concert here in Wisconsin, and some of his songs performed by others.
